Vehicular Wireless Charging Application Overview


A new convenience feature making its way into the automobile industry is wireless charging for personal electronic devices. When coupled with hands-free communication, it allows for convenient charging of the phone while it is in use within the vehicle. As smartphones deliver increased functionality within the vehicle—including providing a source for entertainment, navigation and a wide variety of apps—providing a convenient method for charging them is a differentiating feature for today’s market.

At the core of a wireless charging embedded control system, our Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) offer advanced features such as multiple Pulse-Width Modulators (PWMs), high-speed Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and an integrated Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Our DSCs support many industry standards for wireless charging, as well as proprietary standards due to the DSC’s computational abilities. We also provide many of the analog support pieces for communications, power management and output control to enable a complete system design.
