What are the advantages of registration and login?
  • Registration allows you the opportunity to select if you would like notifications emailed to you. Selecting this option means that whenever Microchip posts a notification to the website, you will also receive it as an email to the address you provided.
  • You can choose the frequency at which you receive notifications. You can either receive an email every time a PCN or EOL notification is posted, or you can receive a weekly email containing all notifications that posted in the past week.
  • Registration allows you to select by device family only the products in which you are interested. This will limit the notification emails to only those products you selected, which is done after you create your account and log in to make your device family selections. Refer to the above links to learn how to personalize your account preferences.
  • You can still view all notifications at any time on our website here.
What are the disadvantages if you do not register and login?
  • You will not receive personalized notifications to your email address.
  • You can view the list of all notifications, but they will not be sorted by your device family preference.

What is a cancellation notice? A cancellation notice informs customers that a previously issued notification is being cancelled. The details of the cancellation will be included in the body of the PCN.
What is a final notice? The final PCN is issued after a qualification report has been approved and implementation of at least some of the affected products is identified. A qualification report and estimated first ship date (EFSD) are included in the final PCN. Implementation may occur any time after the EFSD identified in the final PCN.
What is an EOL notification? An End of Life (EOL) notification is a document that notifies customers of product discontinuance. Please review Microchip's PCN Policy and EOL Policy for details.
What is an initial notice? The initial notice is issued after a qualification plan has been approved and informs of a change that may be implemented. A qualification plan and estimated month and year of qualification completion are included in the initial PCN. The change will not be implemented until after the qualification has been completed and reported in a final PCN even if the estimated qualification completion date has passed.
What is an intermediate PCN? The intermediate PCN is issued after a qualification report has been approved and informs customers that a change has been qualified. A qualification report and estimated implementation date will be included in the intermediate PCN. Implementation will not occur until after the final PCN has been issued even if the implementation date specified in the intermediate PCN has passed.
What is my personalized home page? After logging into your myMicrochip account, you will be directed to your personalized home page. Your personalized home page lists the product change notifications that you are interested in along with product, software, or tools updates you may have selected at registration. From your personalized home page, you also have the ability to select other folders you may have on microchip.com, other links on microchip.com, or update your profile.
What is the notification issue date? The PCN issue date is the most recent date the PCN has been issued, revised, or re-issued. To see the first issue date or previous issue dates, please review the PCN revision history found toward the bottom of each PCN letter.
What is the notification tracking number? Also called notification ID, or PCN ID, the tracking number is an alphanumeric code assigned to each notification used to identify them. The notification ID can be found at the top of each notification and in the column header of the notification list. The PCN number or notification tracking number will remain unchanged throughout the life cycle of the PCN unless noted in the PCN letter. The PCN life cycle can be identified in the PCN revision history found toward the bottom of each PCN letter.
What is the PCN Status? The PCN Status reveals if the notification is an initial notice, final notice, EOL notice, or cancellation notice.
Where is the PCN/EOL notification landing page? The PCN/EOL notification landing page can be found by opening microchip.com and then selecting the change notification link under the support pull down menu.
What is the EFSD and what does it mean? EFSD stands for Estimated First Ship Date and is included in final PCNs to inform of the earliest date that the change described in the PCN may occur. Implementation will not occur prior to this date but may occur any time after this date. Also note that not all products listed in the affected parts list may have the change implemented on or after the EFSD.
What is a CPN? A CPN is the Microchip Catalog Part Number and is the ordering part number. The parts affected by a PCN are identified by the Microchip CPN.
When is the qualification report available and Final PCN issued? The qualification report is available after the qualification has been completed and board-approved. The qualification completion times may be extended from the time defined in the initial PCN because of unforeseen business conditions; however, implementation will not occur until after qualification has completed and a final PCN has been issued. The final PCN will include the qualification report and estimated first ship date.
How does the customer know if their part(s) is/are affected? Customers may refer to the affected CPN list (excel or PDF) attached in the “Affected CPNs” section or in the attachments field below the PCN page.
How do I find the replacement part for the discontinued parts? Customers may refer to the affected CPN list (excel or PDF) in the attachments field below the PCN page.
How do I reset or recover my myMicrochip login ID and Password? Select the login link above and click “Forgot Password?”.
How do I determine the PCN Implementation date? The implementation date, also referred to in the PCN as the Estimated First Ship Date (EFSD), is when the change described in the PCN will take effect. Implementation may occur any time after the EFSD identified in the final PCN and may not apply to all affected parts.
