Power switch Integrated Circuits (ICs) manage power rails by creating an electrical connection from the source to the load in a circuit. Power switches are simple in concept but provide a variety of functions and benefits to an electrical system such as power distribution, power savings and even charge emulation in USB port power applications. More commonly, you can use power switches to provide protection against over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit occurrences.

Our power switch ICs cover multiple topologies and offer all the protection needed to ensure optimal operating conditions for many systems. Our power switch portfolio is primarily broken up into load switches, current limit switches and USB port power controllers to meet the variety of challenges that you might face in your application spaces, ranging from mobile POS systems to automotive USB breakout boxes and everything in between.

Load Switches

  • Enables simple solution for power distribution and sequencing.
  • Reduces leakage currents to downstream loads or systems.
  • Capability of up to 7A continuous current.

Current Limit Switches

  • Provides short circuit and overcurrent protection for most applications including USB power.
  • Both fixed and adjustable current limits up to 6A
  • Select products are UL recognized and EN/IEC 60950-1 (CB) certified

USB 2.0 Port Power Controllers

  • Port power switch − 2.9V to 5.5V source voltage range with up to 2.5A current with 55 mΩ On Resistance
  • Nine preloaded charger emulation profiles supporting USB-IF BC1.2 charging
  • UL recognized and EN/IEC 60950-1 (CB) certified
