ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation responsible for preparing international standards. ISO 26262 is the international standard for functional safety of electrical and/or electronic systems in road vehicles. It is an adaptation of the IEC 61508 industrial safety standard that aims to mitigate risks associated with malfunctioning electrical/electronic systems in road vehicles to acceptable levels. ISO 26262 also focuses on managing and tracking safety requirements and ensuring standardized safety procedures in design, validation, testing and verification.
