An AVAS alerts pedestrians to the presence of electric-drive vehicles traveling at low speeds. Warning sound devices were deemed necessary by some government regulators because vehicles operating in all-electric mode produce less noise than traditional combustion engine vehicles, making it more difficult for pedestrians and cyclists (especially the blind or short-sighted) to notice their presence. Warning sounds are automatically triggered at low speeds; these sounds include artificial beeps and chimes, the sounds of tires moving over gravel and sounds that mimic engines, which manufacturers can also leverage for specific brand messaging.
Our wide range of microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs)—equipped with interfaces to connect synchronously with audio power amplifiers and the car network (CAN and Ethernet) on the other side—enables efficient entry-level to high-end AVAS solutions with advanced sound synthesis.
